Driving in Extreme Heat? A Madras Ford Dealer Offers Some Vital Tips

Summer is around the corner and with it comes the extreme heat. Yet the summer heat often comes with damaging effects on your car, especially if you don’t take the necessary precautions. You may even end up taking your vehicle to the closest Madras Ford dealer for repairs.
How can you prevent the heat from bringing your car to a screeching halt?
Check your batteries
Many drivers worry about how the winter cold can zap their batteries. In reality, they should be just as worried about the summer heat. The extreme temperatures of summer can cause the battery fluid to evaporate faster, which in turn can corrode the battery terminals and clamps. To avoid this, clean any corrosive buildup from the terminal and make sure the clamps are fastened tightly. Is your battery nearing the three-year mark? Have it inspected as it may need immediate replacement.
Top up on coolant
Coolants are to your engine what a glass of water might be to a thirsty person. So, always make sure there’s enough coolant in your engine when driving in the summer. Check your owner’s manual carefully, however, as different Ford vehicles have different recommended water-to-coolant ratios. Take a look at how often the coolant should be changed as well; it’s typically between 24,000 to 100,000 miles, though it varies depending on the model (or even year) of your car.
Properly inflate your tires
Did you know that underinflated tires are more sensitive to heat and more prone to blowouts? It’s always a good idea to check your tires before driving, but be extra vigilant when you know it’ll be a hot day ahead. Not sure what the right tire pressure is? While tire manufacturers have their own pressure recommendations, you should follow what’s in your car manual instead. Note, however, that sometimes a car will require different tire pressures for the front and rear tires.
Inspect the belts and hoses
Your vehicle’s belts and hoses are critical pieces that keep your car cool, but extreme heat can cause them to wear out faster. Should they crack, blister, or snap, it won’t be long until your radiator overheats and your vehicle stalls on the highway. If you’re handy under the hood, you can inspect your belts and hoses for damage. Otherwise, have them professionally checked. Replace worn out parts as soon as possible to avoid any mishaps along the road.
Have a roadside emergency kit
You never know when a breakdown might happen, but you can lessen your headaches if you have an emergency kit ready. You should always have a spare tire in the trunk, but make sure to check its pressure from time to time. Other essentials include road flares, jumper cables, water for your engine, a flashlight with extra batteries, and a bottle of coolant. Your kit should also have the number of your dealer, mechanic, or car insurer so you can call for roadside assistance ASAP.
Indeed, driving in the heat of summer offers its own set of challenges, but you can prevent it with proper maintenance. Drive safe, everyone!

2020 GMC Acadia in Madras OR vs 2020 Ford Explorer
When comparing the Acadia to the Explorer you will notice that the 2020 Ford Explorer delivers in all aspects of the vehicle from deign to power to safety. Though both offer child safety locks the Explorer offers power safety locks that can be activated and deactivated from the driver's seat. Unlike Acadia's manual switch that requires individually engaging at each rear door. Standard Post Collision Braking comes with the Explorer which automatically applies the brakes if there is a collision and helps prevent a second collision. This safety technology is not offered with the Acadia. To prevent backing injury or collision when in reverse the Explorer has standard Reverse Brake Assist in the ST and Platinum trim levels. Collision prevention brakes are not offered in the Acadia. Drivers that fall asleep are the cause of many accidents and deaths each year therefore, the Explorer has a driver alert monitor that detects when a driver is focused on the road ahead. It sounds a warning and suggests a break which is not available in the Acadia. The Explorer provides 8.9 cubic feet more passenger space than the Acadia and the cargo capacity of the Explorer exceeds the Acadia from front to back. There not comparison when it comes to maximum towing capacity of the Explorer offering up to 5600 lbs. towing capacity. An important fact to consider is the ease of service with regards to the engine. The Explorer engine is mounted longitudinally (north to south) and the Acadia engine is mounted sideways making it more challenging to service. The Explorer offers an exterior PIN entry system in case you lock your keys in your car. The Acadia doesn't offer an exterior PIN entry system and its OnStar can't unlock the vehicle's doors. Active Park Assist 2.0 is on the ST and Platinum trim levels but is not offered on the Acadia.

2020 Ford F-150 near Prineville OR Does it All

Whether you need a basic work truck or a luxurious family hauler, the 2020 Ford F-150 near Prineville OR covers a wide range of budget needs. Visit TS&S Ford to explore your options from entry-level trims to the loaded Platinum edition.

Somewhere along the line, pickup trucks have become luxury cruise machines, and the 2020 Ford F-150 is no different. Sure, you can still purchase a work truck with a regular cab and an 8 foot bed, but the most popular versions are the family-friendly four-door trucks with shorter beds. There's an extended cab, too, for those who combine work and play. With a wide range of engines and driveline combinations, there's an F-150 for nearly any budget. And, unlike the competition that uses mostly steel in its construction, Ford builds all of its pickup body panels out of aluminum.

Despite not being fully redesigned since the 2015 model year when the F-150 switched to aluminum-alloy body construction, the 2020 Ford F-150 near Prineville OR still performs brilliantly in so many areas. New engines, a 10-speed automatic transmission and updated features have kept the F-150 from falling too far behind the competition, and it remains a recommendable truck. A light-duty diesel engine recently became an option, and the Limited trim level got the F-150 Raptor's high-output V-6, while the Raptor also received noteworthy changes.

Interior Changes in the 2020 Ford F-150 near Prineville OR
For 2020, there are no mechanical or interior changes to the F-150, but some features and options have been reconfigured. Ford's Co-Pilot 360 is now standard on Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited trims, adding blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist and automatic high beams; forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking is also part of this grouping and was included standard in all F-150s for 2019. On the off-road F-150 Raptor, the previous Raptor Technology Package that included adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and rain-sensing wipers has been discontinued, and those options have been lumped into other packages (mid-grade and luxury).

Six engine options include:
290-hp naturally aspirated V6
325 hp EcoBoost (turbocharged) V6
375-hp EcoBoost (turbocharged) V6
395-hp V8
high-output 450-hp turbo V6 (comes in the Limited and Raptor trims)
250-hp turbodiesel

All of the engines deliver plenty of power for driving the F-150 around town and on the highway, and each is capable of some towing. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 13,200 pounds and has a maximum payload of 3,270 pounds. The turbocharged and V8 engines feel stronger than the base powertrain, and provide more energetic acceleration. The most impressive engine in the lineup is the performance-oriented EcoBoost V6 that's available in the Raptor and Limited trims. It makes 450 hp, and you'll feel it when you hit the gas pedal!

Firm handling and a comfortable ride make the F-150 easy to drive. The F-150 is poised around turns, and rough roads don't leave passengers feeling jostled. Any F-150 model is reasonably capable off road because of available features like four-wheel drive and skid plates. The most capable trim for off-roading is the Raptor.

In regular cab models, the 2020 Ford F-150 near Prineville OR seats up to three people. In SuperCab and SuperCrew models, that number increases to six. The front seats are comfortable and supportive, and they make it easy to find a suitable position. SuperCab models have adequate rear-seat space for adults for short trips, while SuperCrew models have an abundance of room for back-seat passengers. For child car seats, F-150 models with a rear seat have two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the outboard seats, as well as an upper tether for the middle seat.

An AM/FM radio comes standard in the base F-150, and that's about it because the lowest trim is mostly just a work truck. Available features include:

voice-activated SYNC connectivity system
SYNC 3 infotainment system
8-inch touch screen
Bang & Olufsen audio system
satellite radio
navigation
Bluetooth
USB port
Wi-Fi hot spot
Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
moonroof
dual-zone automatic climate control

The SYNC 3 infotainment system is one of the best in the class. Its touch screen responds quickly to inputs, and the interface doesn't take much time to master. There are plenty of Smartphone connectivity options as well.
